Street Furniture Buying Guide

Everything you need to choose, specify and install the right timber street furniture — fixing options, timber types, technical support, FAQs and more.

01

Fixing Options

Pedestal fixing

Furniture sits on top of the ground and is bolted down for safety and security. Fixing kits and bolts can be supplied as an optional extra — please ask for details.

Ground fixing (root fixing)

Furniture is made to taller dimensions to allow it to be sunk into the ground and secured with concrete. For example, the Coxes range features longer legs specifically for this "planting" method.

02

Timber

We supply all our timber street furniture in carefully selected hardwood or softwood. If budget allows, hardwood is the more durable choice and requires treating less often. Softwood requires an annual treatment with Sadolin wood stain and typically has a shorter service life.

Iroko Hardwood Distinctive yellow when freshly cut, quickly turning golden-brown on exposure to light. Colour tends to deepen over time.
Oak Hardwood A renowned hardwood with an attractive light-brown colour. Like Iroko, colour deepens naturally over time.
Cedar Softwood Naturally durable with a pleasant aroma and reddish-brown hue. Weathers to silver-grey — a finish sometimes sought by architects.
All our timber is sourced from commercially managed, recognised and sustainable resources. As one of the UK's leading manufacturers of street furniture, we follow environmentally sound practices at all times. We also supply in Softwood and Reclaimed Green Heart Timber — ask our team for details.
